CJ Critt is known to many audio book fans, as the Voice of America’s favorite bounty hunter, Stephanie Plum, and has brought to life the work of Anne Tyler, Larry McMurtry, Patricia Cornwell, Margaret Maron, Haven Kimmel, Joan Hess, J.A. Jance and Barbara Kingsolver, among many others, in 200 works of Popular Fiction for Harper Audio, Recorded Books, BBC America Audiobooks, Library Ideas and Listen-up!, garnering a dozen EARPHONES awards and fans nationwide.

This decades long experience as a master story teller with a cast of vivid voices ready to record at any time, has left her ideally suited to coach and guide others, and her workshop, Narrate Like a Pro, has helped launch several new careers in audio narration, which brings her much joy and satisfaction and that – is what it’s all about!

Film appearances in the comic shorts, LUBE JOB, Red Dots and a featured role in Occupy Texas have screened in festivals and at select theaters nationwide.

A former staff writer for Disney Radio, she penned hundreds of commercial scripts and created the on-air features: We The Peeps! (Election language demystified) House Of Friends (Good manners for the toddler set) & Theater of the B-Zarre.

Critt is the author of YA novel, EggSTory, the pod cast, DAMPA MIC DROP and is the host of the WRITE STUFF – a creative writing and performance workshop where everyone becomes an instant author.

On stage, she performs favorite excerpts from her audio-book repertoire. Her inspired, solo show, BY RAIL was developed with the Terra Nova Collective in NYC and debuted at PS 122 on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

Once a “Ring-Around-the-Collar Mom,” doing scores of network television commercials, in New York City, CJ is a veteran of Broadway with Mario Van Peebles in Waltz of the Stork, Off Broadway in the Equity Library hits, Plain and Fancy and Promises, Promises.  She has performed Stand-up and competed in the spoken word world of the Poetry Slam.

Critt won a Cable Ace Award for writing, producing and hosting the TV pilot, Words Aloud! She is the creator and director of THE ANGRY GIRL SEXTET, a live performance a cappella, all chick cocktail of liquid language.

Her original works, Suicide at 8 and Smoking Lips debuted at Dallas’ Big D Festival. CJ’s Cursed With Bigness, played on Theater Row in NYC, Arts & Letters Live in North Texas, and was presented at the Dallas Theater Center. She is the lyricist for the sold-out and held-over musical, Muscle Bound Cowboys of Snake Pit Gulch, which premiered at the Desert Rose Playhouse in Palm Springs, CA.

An honors graduate and speech instructor at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, CJ was an adjunct professor at NJCU, and Dallas Academy of Music and Performing Arts. Her short film, ANATOMOY AN EVICTION, screened multiple times in NYC, & can be seen on YouTube.

CJ’s completed screenplays, Sigma Delta Die and MASTER STROKE are ready for production. The original musical, Elsie Janis and the Boys, produced at the Rotunda Theater in Dallas, celebrating the “Bob Hope of WWI,”  super trouper, Janis. Her Libretto for The World of Georgia Dill debuted at the Bathhouse Cultural Center in the Echo Reads Series. Next up, Critt’s, The Pollinators, the liveliest creature-feature pop-rock musical satire since Little Shop of Horrors!
